Greg Walker is a former American professional baseball player and is currently a hitting coach of the Chicago White Sox. He was born in Douglas, Georgia. Walker played as first baseman for two teams in the Major League Baseball; the Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. He graduated in Coffee County High School in Douglas, Georgia.
Walker was 6 ft. 3 in and 205 lbs. He batted with his left and threw using his right. He started his professional career in the Major League Baseball after he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies during the 1977 amateur draft. He was the twentieth round pick of the team and formally signed June 11, 1977. Walker, however, was not able to make a debut with the Phillies, and after two years, on December 3, 1979 he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox from the Phillies during the 1979 Rule 5 Draft. Walker then made his debut with the White Sox on September 18, 1982. He spent eleven seasons with the White Sox after which he was released by the team on April 30, 1990. Following this, Walker signed as free agent with the Baltimore Orioles on May 4, 1990 and had his final game on July 1, 1990. Walker was then released by the Orioles two days after his last game.
