About Goody Rosen Memorabilia & Collectibles


Goodwin George Rosen was a left- handed professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball. He is from Ontario, Canada and attended Parkdale Collegiate Institute. During his teen years, he was one of the best players in Toronto’s Jewish Fraternal Softball League.

 

Rosen signed with the Rochester Red Wings of the International League in 1931 to start his professional career. He then played for the Louisville Colonels of the American Association in 1933 and was acquired by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1937. He made his MLB debut on September 14, 1937 in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. He then played in the International League for the Montreal Royals and the Syracuse Chiefs. He was named to the 1945 National League All- Star and in 1946 was sent to the New York Giants then went back to the International League and played for the Jersey City Giants. His last MLB game was on September 26, 1946 for the New York Giants. In 1947, he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs where he was eventually released thus ending his pro baseball career. He died on April 1994 at the age of 81. For his entire career, he recorded a .291 batting average with 22 home runs and 197 runs batted in.

Goody Rosen (full name: Goodwin George Rosen; no nicknames) played outfielder from 1937 until 1946 for the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants. He played for the Dodgers from 1937 - 1946 and Giants in 1946. Over 6 seasons, he played 551 games, hit 22 home runs, drove in 310 runs, and stole 14 bases. Born on August 28, 1912 in Toronto, Ontario, CAN, Rosen stood 5' 9" and weighed 160 lb. He attended Parkdale Collegiate Institute (Toronto, ON) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on September 14, 1937 and he played his final game on September 26, 1946. Common misspellings of his name include Goodwin George Goody Rosen.
