Gil Coan (full name: Gilbert Fitzgerald Coan; no nicknames) played leftfielder from 1946 until 1956 for the Washington Senators, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox and New York Giants. He played for the Senators from 1946 - 1953, Orioles from 1954 - 1955, White Sox in 1955 and Giants from 1955 - 1956. Over 11 seasons, he played 918 games, hit 39 home runs, drove in 384 runs, and stole 83 bases. Born on May 18, 1922 in Monroe, NC, Coan stands 6' 0" and weighs 180 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 27, 1946 and he played his final game on April 25, 1956. Common misspellings of his name include Gilbert Fitzgerald Gil Coan.
