About George Yardley:
George Yardley (full name: George Harry Yardley III; Bird) played Forward-Guard from 1954 until 1960 for the Fort Wayne Pistons, Detroit Pistons and Syracuse Nationals. Over 7 seasons, he played 472 games, scored 9063 points (19.2 ppg) and grabbed 4220 rebounds (8.9 rpg). Yardley also dished out 815 assists (1.7 apg), made steals (0.0 spg), and blocked shots (0.0 bpg) during his career. Born in Hollywood, California on November 3, 1928, Yardley stood 6-5 and weighed 190 lbs. He attended high school at Newport Harbor in Newport Beach, California and college at Stanford University. He was drafted by the Fort Wayne Pistons in the 1st round (7th pick, 7th overall) of the 1950 NBA draft. He was inducted into Hall of Fame as Player in 1996.
