George Lyle (full name: George Lyle; no nicknames) played left wing from 1980 until 1983 for the Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers. He played for the Red Wings from 1980 - 1982 and Whalers from 1982 - 1983. Over 4 seasons, he played 99 games, scored 24 goals, and made 38 assists. Born in North Vancouver, British Columbia on November 24, 1953, Lyle stands 6-2 and weighs 205 lbs. He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 8th round (123rd overall) of the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft.
