 George Hendrick is a former professional baseball player and has played in a total of six major league teams. Hendrick, born in Los Angeles, California, is presently part of the coaching staff of the Tampa Bay Rays as their first base and outfield coach. Hendrick started his career playing for the Oakland Athletics after he was made a first round pick by the team during the 1968 amateur draft. During his second season with the Indians, Hendrick was named into the 1974 All-Star selection. He was named again as an All-Star in the succeeding season. Hendrick was traded to the San Diego Padres during the 1978 season in exchange for Eric Rasmussen. After playing just two seasons, Hendrick was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals where Hendrick was named into two more All-Star selections—in 1980 and in 1983. During those seasons, Hendrick was also able to receive Silver Slugger awards. In his entire career, Hendrick was able to win two World Series titles.
