About George Foster Memorabilia & Collectibles
George Foster is a former professional baseball player in the MLB. He became active from 1969 to 1986. By the end of his career, Foster posted a batting average of .274, an RBI of 1.239, and made 348 homeruns, 1,239 hits and 986 runs scored in a total of 1,.977 games that he had played.
He started his professional career when he signed with the San Francisco Giants in 1969. The only problem was that the Giants already had Bobby Bonds as an outfielder and so they decided to trade Foster to the Cincinnati Reds. Foster was able to play as starting center fielder during the 1971 season and was able to hit 10 home runs and make 50 runs. However, he was reduced to a backup after the Reds’ original left fielder, Bobby Tolan, had finished recuperating from an injury. In 1975 after making a few necessary arrangements, Foster was made left fielder and he went on to hit 23 homeruns in that season alone.
Foster was named into the All-Star selection in five years from 1976 to 1979 and then in 1981. During the 1977 season, he was able to make 52 homeruns which earned him the MVP award.
