American Oliver was a four-sport standout who earned 12 varsity letters at Rock Island Alleman High School. At Alleman, he earned all-state honors in football and baseball and Oliver learned all the lessons form legendary coach Don Morris. He has played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee & Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs. catcher and first baseman in Major League Baseball, George Oliver was born on March 22, 1935.
Oliver is a former Cardinal and Phillies catcher who also served as back-up. This strong- armed player had some power and good speed for a catcher.
