Gene Alley (full name: Leonard Eugene Alley; no nicknames) played shortstop and second baseman from 1963 until 1973 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pirates from 1963 - 1973. Over 11 seasons, he played 1195 games, hit 55 home runs, drove in 442 runs, and stole 63 bases. Born on July 10, 1940 in Richmond, VA, Alley stands 5' 10" and weighs 160 lb. He attended Hermitage (Richmond, VA) high school. His debut was on September 4, 1963 and he played his final game on September 27, 1973. Common misspellings of his name include Leonard Eugene Gene Alley.
