 Gavin Floyd is the current starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. This Maryland native is a right-handed batter and uses the same hand to pitch as well. He started playing professionally after he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2001 MLB Draft. However, he didn’t go on to play for the Major League just then. He started his first professional season pitching for the Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League. His Major League Baseball debut game came in September 3, 2004 against the New York Mets.

 

Floyd was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2006 for Freddy Garcia .It would be in 2008 when he would be able to earn his current spot as starting pitcher.
