Gary Player is a professional golf player who hails from South Africa. He is considered by many industry experts as one of the best players in the game’s history for the many victories he was able to achieve. He started engaging himself to the sport as early as the age of 14. His intense dream to become a known golfer started when he was 16 and he started to make this dream a reality at the age of 17.
As a professional, he appears regularly in the PGA Tour that is based in the United States. He had his very first PGA championship win came in 1962 when he defeated Bob Goalby and in 1965, he won over Kel Nagle in the U.S. Open tournament.
His winning career earned him no less than 166 games and nine major championship titles. Among the major tournaments he won are the Masters Tournament and The Open Championship which he won over Peter Oosterhius in the 1974 season. He is part of the “Big Three” of professional golf during his time together with Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Because of his great achievements in the field of golf, he was included to the World Golf Hall of Fame. His 6 decades as a pro was marked by 165 wins in tournaments.
