Fred Breining (full name: Fred Lawrence Breining; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1980 until 1984 for the San Francisco Giants and Montreal Expos. He played for the Giants from 1980 - 1983 and Expos in 1984. Over 5 seasons, he started 42 games, won 27 games, struck out 260 batters, and had a 3.34 ERA. Born on November 15, 1955 in San Francisco, CA, Breining stands 6' 4" and weighs 185 lb. He attended high school and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 3rd round of the 1974 amateur draft (January). His debut was on September 4, 1980 and he played his final game on May 6, 1984. Common misspellings of his name include Fred Fred Lawrence Breining.
