Frank Robinson, nicknamed “The Judge,” is a former American professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball. He was born in Beaumont, Texas. Robinson played as an outfielder for several team in the major leagues; the Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels and Cleveland Indians. At the near end of his playing career with the Indians, Robinson also served as the manager of his team. This made Robinson as the first African-American manager in the history of Major League Baseball. He later became manager of three other teams in the league; the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals.
Robinson was listed at 6 ft. and 1 in. and 183 lbs. He threw and bat right handed. Robinson turned pro when he signed in 1953 as amateur free agent with the Cincinnati Reds. He made his professional debut in MLB on April 17, 1956. He spent thirteen seasons with the Reds, after which he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on December 1965. Robinson spent six seasons with the Orioles before joining the Los Angeles Dodgers on December 1971. After his stay with Los Angeles, Robinson spent the rest of his later years with the California Angel and Cleveland Indians. Robinson’s final game was with the Indians on September 18, 1976. In 1982, Robinson was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
