About Frank Howard Memorabilia & Collectibles
Named as “The Capital Punisher”, Frank Howard is a retired professional baseball player. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and played in the Major League Baseball. Howard spent the most time with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Senators throughout his activity in the league. However, Howard also played for other teams as well. Howard was a left fielder, right fielder and a first baseman when he was in the MLB.
Howard started his professional baseball career by playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He went to Ohio State and played both baseball and basketball. But instead of playing for the Philadelphia Warriors when he was drafted by the team, Howard decided to go the other way and signed with the Dodgers.
In 1959 – Howard’s second season in the minors – was able to clinch the Minor League Player of the Year award and was named as the National League Rookie Player of the Year during the 1960 season. That season, Howard helped the team get the pennant. Howard ranked ninth in the voting for the MVP. He was also with the Dodgers when the team won the 1963 World Series Title against the New York Yankees. Throughout his career, Howard was named into four consecutive All-Star Selections – in 1968 all the way to 1971.
