Franco Harris was born on March 7, 1950 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Harris was known as a good player of the
Pittsburgh Steelers.
He had studied at the Rancocas Valley Regional High School and pursued his college days at the Penn State University. He played as a primary blocker for the
Penn State Nittany Lions. It was in 1972 when he was selected during the first round of the National Football League Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Harris was hailed as the league’s rookie of the year by The Sporting News and the United Press International during his first season with the Steelers in 1972.
