Born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, Fernando Jose Cabrera is presently playing in the organization of the Oakland Athletics.  During his high school days, Fernando played basketball and volleyball as well in Discipulos De Cristo High School in Puerto Rico. He played in the Major League Baseball when Henry Cruz, a scout for the Cleveland Indians signed him up to the team. He was selected in the tenth round of the Major League Baseball Draft in 1999 by the Indians. He was able to play in the 2005 All-Star Futures Game but was soon released by the Indians. As a free agent, he signed with the Baltimore Orioles’ minor league on the 21st of August 2007 and was released a year after. He also played in the minor league of the Boston Red Sox but was also release a few months after.  Fernando Cabrera was granted free agency on November of 2009. Through the 2008 season, Fernando Cabrera has posted a win-loss of 8-7, earned run average of 5.02 and a total of 185 strikeouts.
