About Everson Walls Memorabilia & Collectibles
Everson Collins Walls is a retired American football player in the National Football League who was born on December 28, 1959 in Dallas, Texas. He played as a cornerback for several teams in the NFL in a 12- year career.
He attended Lloyd V. Berkner High School as a high school student and only started playing football during senior year where he was the leader in interceptions in the district. Determined to play football in college, he went to Grambling State University and impressed Eddie Robinson at a training camp. Walls was given a full scholarship and he rewarded the team with an impressive play, thus he won the Division I- AA All- America honors and led the nation in interceptions for his senior year.
Though at first scouts doubted that he was fast enough for the professional leagues, the Dallas Cowboys eventually signed Wallace as an undrafted free agent in 1981. He did not disappoint the team; he led the nation in interceptions and was invited for Pro Bowl for his stellar performance.
The Cowboys faced the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship games under Tom Landry’s coaching. Despite the remarkable play that Walls gave, they lost to the 49ers. He continued to lead the league in interceptions and was given Pro Bowl honors in 1983 and 1985. Walls became one of the leagues most feared cornerbacks. He also had some disputes with his contract. These issues were settled which then made him the second- highest paid cornerback in the league.
In 1990, he went to the New York Giants and helped the team reach the NFC championship game. Walls faced the 49ers again but this time prevailed with the Giants. The team then faced the AFC champions, the Buffalo Bills. The Giants won the series and by 1992, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns where he stayed until 1993 after which he retired.
