Elmer Singleton (full name: Bert Elmer Singleton; Smoky) played pitcher from 1945 until 1959 for the Boston Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators and Chicago Cubs. He played for the Braves from 1945 - 1946, Pirates from 1947 - 1948, Senators in 1950 and Cubs from 1957 - 1959. Over 8 seasons, he started 19 games, won 11 games, struck out 160 batters, and had a 4.83 ERA. Born on June 26, 1918 in Ogden, UT, Singleton stood 6' 2" and weighed 174 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on August 20, 1945 and he played his final game on August 1, 1959. Common misspellings of his name include Bert Elmer Smoky singelton Singleton.
