Eddie Smith (full name: Edgar Smith; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1936 until 1947 for the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. He played for the Athletics from 1936 - 1939, White Sox from 1939 - 1947 and Red Sox in 1947. Over 10 seasons, he started 197 games, won 73 games, struck out 694 batters, and had a 3.82 ERA. Born on December 14, 1913 in Mansfield, NJ, Smith stood 5' 10" and weighed 174 lb. He attended Columbus (Columbus, NJ) (All Transactions) high school.
