Eddie Lake (full name: Edward Erving Lake; Sparky) played shortstop, second baseman and third baseman from 1939 until 1950 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. He played for the Cardinals from 1939 - 1941, Red Sox from 1943 - 1945 and Tigers from 1946 - 1950. Over 11 seasons, he played 835 games, hit 39 home runs, drove in 442 runs, and stole 52 bases. Born on March 18, 1916 in Antioch, CA, Lake stood 5' 7" and weighed 159 lb. He attended Castlemont (Oakland, CA) high school. His debut was on September 26, 1939 and he played his final game on September 30, 1950. Common misspellings of his name include Edward Eddie eddy edward Erving Sparky Lake.
