Edward John Belfour debuted his ice hockey career with the Chicago Blackhawks as a goaltender. When he turned down the extension of his contract with the Blackhawks, he was exchanged to the San Jose Sharks. He only stayed with the Sharks for a half-season and signed in the Dallas Stars as a free agent. After he left the Dallas Stars, he became a free agent under the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2002 to 2008. He replaced Curtis Joseph as a goaltender when Joseph signed with the Detroit Red Wings. His career ended with the Florida Panthers in 2007. Throughout his career as a hockey goaltender, Ed Belfour has earned and received numerous awards from various award giving bodies in the field of sports. He even shared the NHL William M. Jennings Trophy with Roman Turek of Calgary Flames.
