Earl Whitehill (full name: Earl Oliver Whitehill; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1931 until 1939 for the Detroit Tigers, Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. He played for the Tigers from 1931 - 1932, Senators from 1933 - 1936, Indians from 1937 - 1938 and Cubs in 1939. Over 17 seasons, he started 473 games, won 218 games, struck out 1350 batters, and had a 4.36 ERA. Born on February 7, 1899 in Cedar Rapids, IA (All Transactions), Whitehill stood 5' 9" and weighed 174 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on September 15, 1923 and he played his final game on September 30, 1939. Common misspellings of his name include Earl Earl Oliver Whitehill.
