Dwight Howard is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. Howard is currently playing for the Orlando Magic as the team’s center. Howard is also known to play the point forward position. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Howard attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy where he excelled in basketball. Howard during his entire stay in Southwest Atlanta Christian and helped his team clinch the State title during his last year in high school. Howard was the recipient of the Naismith Prep Player of the Year award and the Gatorade National Player of the Year award.

Howard chose not to enroll in any college and instead entered the 2004 NBA draft. Howard was selected by the Orlando Magic as the first overall pick in the draft. During his first season in the NBA, Howard was able to finish with a double-double, a feat that he accomplished at a very young age. Howard played and started in all of the games during his first season of turning pro.

Presently, Howard has been named into four NBA All-Star selections starting from the 2007 season down to the 2010 season. He was also named into the first team of the All-Defensive Team in 2009 and 2010, and was named the Defensive Player of the Year for those two seasons.
