Dustin Penner is a professional ice hockey player and was born in Winkler, Manitoba. Penner is Canadian by nationality. Presently, Penner is part of the Edmonton Oilers’ roster and is playing in the National Hockey League. Penner started playing hockey for his high school and tried out for different minor teams unsuccessfully. Penner played for the Minot State University – Bottineau and was spotted in an evaluation camp by Grant Stanbrook. Penner accepted a scholarship offer for the University of Maine and helped the team get to the championship game of the NCAA.
After graduating, Penner signed with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and played for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the AHL. After another season of playing in the AHL, Penner was able to play in the NHL for the Anaheim in 2005. He earned a full time spot with the team in 2006 and Penner became part of the “Kid Line” together with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. Penner helped the Mighty Ducks win the Stanley Cup during the 2007 season.
Penner signed with the Edmonton Oilers before the start of the 2007 season. Penner was the top scorer in the team during his first season with the Oilers. During the 2009 season, Penner had career high scores although the Oilers finished last in the league.
