Former Major League baseball center fielder and left-handed batter, Duke Snider has played for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and San Francisco Giants. He was born on September 19, 1926 in Los Angeles, California.

           

He is a versatile player and a strong armed quarterback in high school and could possibly throw the football 60 yards on the fly. He played in a short time for Montreal during the International League in 1944. It was in 1949 when he accomplished 23 home runs accompanied with 92 runs batted in where he also helped the Dodgers break into the World Series. He has been a very powerful player in the 1947 to 1956 National League making the Duke Snider autographed "HOF" baseball a valuable item. Snider was able to accomplished 40 home runs in five successive seasons and had averaged 42 home runs, 124 runs batted in, 123 runs, and a blazing .320 batting average in 1953 to 1956.

           

He had appeared in six post-seasons with the Dodgers where he faced the New York Yankees in the first five and the Chicago White Sox during the final. His team won the World Series in 1955 and 1959 leading the Duke Snider autographed "HOF" baseball as a precious item to baseball enthusiasts. Snider was sold to the Giants during the Opening Day in 1964. At the end of that season, Snider retired from his career. In his 18 years of playing baseball he was able to accomplish a .295 batting average with 407 home runs and 1,333 runs batted in all in 2,143 games. He was also popular and was respected play-by-play announcer of the Montreal Expos.
