About Duane Pillette Memorabilia & Collectibles

 Duane Pillete is a retired professional baseball player who hails from Detroit, Michigan. He started his Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees which he he joined in 1959. He was part of the team until the 1950 season and was a great factor that helped the team in their World Series games in 1949 and 1950. There, he showcased impressive performances which caught the attention of many baseball fans.

 

After his remarkable period with the New York Yankees, he joined the St. Louis Browns and the Baltimore Orioles from the 1950 to the 1955 seasons. In 1951, he recorded the highest number of earned runs allowed with 106 and at the same time led the league in number of losses with 14. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1956 season.

 

He spent a total of eight seasons in the Major League Baseball and appeared in a total of 188 games. He started 119 of these games and had 34 complete ones. He also recorded 391 walks and 305 strikeouts in his entire career. He had faced 4, 014 batters and made 15 wild pitches. Herman Pillette, his father, was also a professional baseball player who became part of the Detroit Tigers.

He played for the Yankees from 1949 - 1950, Browns from 1950 - 1953, Orioles from 1954 - 1955 and Phillies in 1956. Over 8 seasons, he started 119 games, won 38 games, struck out 305 batters, and had a 4.40 ERA. Born on July 24, 1922 in Detroit, MI, Pillette stands 6' 3" and weighs 195 lb. He attended San Diego (San Diego, CA) high school. His debut was on July 19, 1949 and he played his final game on September 16, 1956. Common misspellings of his name include Duane Dee Duane Xavier Pillette.
