Drew Gooden is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. The power forward is currently included in the Los Angeles Clippers roster. Gooden was born in Oakland, California and went to El Cerrito High School and was the center for his high school varsity team. Gooden went on to study in the University of Kansas and played college basketball together with Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich. Gooden was named as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Player of the Year in 2002 and was able to lead the Jayhawks to the Big 12 Conference all the way to a conference championship title.  

 

Gooden announced that he would be skipping his senior year in the University of Kansas to join the 2002 NBA Draft. The Memphis Grizzlies signed the player by making him the fourth overall pick in the draft. After playing for a season with the Grizzlies, Gooden was traded to the Orlando Magic 2003 and then the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2004. Gooden was making an average of 11.1 ppg and 7.9 rpg during his last season for the Cavaliers. 

 

Before landing with the Los Angeles Clippers, Gooden also played for the Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks.

During his career, he has played 580 games, scored 6897 points (11.9 ppg) and grabbed 4564 rebounds (7.9 rpg). Gooden also dished out 622 assists (1.1 apg), made 433 steals (0.7 spg), and blocked 389 shots (0.7 bpg). Born in Oakland, California on September 24, 1981, Gooden stands 6-10 and weighs 230 lbs. He attended high school at El Cerrito in El Cerrito, California and college at University of Kansas. He was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 1st round (4th pick, 4th overall) of the 2002 NBA draft.
