Doug Flutie is a former American professional gridiron football player in the National Football League and Canadian Football League.
He studied at the Natick High School where he had played for the “Redman” and became an All-League performer in football, basketball and baseball. Flutie had played football for Boston College. He grabbed the Heisman Trophy during his senior year. Flutie had left his school being the NCAA’s all-time passing yardage leader with 10,579 yards and became a consensus All-America as a senior. He also earned Player of the Year awards from UPI, Kodak, The Sporting News, and the Maxwell Football Club.
He had a professional career in the United States Football League with the Jersey Generals. In 1986, Flutie had signed with the National Football League’s
Chicago Bears and then he went to the New England Patriots in 1987-1989. He is said to be among the greatest quarterbacks who have played for Canadian Football. He had signed with the BC Lions in 1990.
