Presently a bench coach for the
Toronto Blue Jays this 2011 season, Wilbur Donald “Don” Wakamatsu is a former MLB player of the Chicago White Sox. In his high school years, he plays football and baseball together with Jack del Rio, head coach of
the Jacksonville Jaguars in Bay Area’s Hayward High School located in California. Don was drafted in the Major League Baseball in 1985 under the Cincinnati Reds and was released in 1989. He played n the double – A levels during his tenure with the Reds. He then signed up with the
Chicago White Sox and made his debut in the major leagues on the 22th of May 1991. When the 1991 season ended, the Sox released Wakamatsu in October 5, 1991 and signed up for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his tenure with the Dodgers, he just played in the Double and Triple –A levels and soon ended his baseball career.
From being a baseball player, he managed in 1997 the Arizona League Diamondbacks. He was also a bench coach of the Texas Rangers from 2003-2006; and in 2008 served as a bench coach for the Oakland Athletics.
