Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 13, 1961, Rivers stands 6-4 and weighs 185 lbs. He attended high school at Proviso East in Maywood, Illinois and college at Marquette University. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2nd round (7th pick, 31st overall) of the 1983 NBA draft.
