It was on May 2006 when Martin was called by the Dodgers when Navarro had a wrist injury and he was then turned on the disabled list. Martin had probably showed good performances leading Navarro to be on the minor leagues. Navarro was then traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in June 2006 together with Jae Seo and outfielder Mark Hendrickson. It was on June 2006 when he made his debut with the Rays against the Florida Marlins.
