Dick Coffman (full name: Samuel Richard Coffman; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1931 until 1945 for the St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators, New York Giants, Boston Bees and Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Browns from 1931 - 1935, Senators in 1932, Giants from 1936 - 1939, Bees in 1940 and Phillies in 1945. Over 15 seasons, he started 132 games, won 72 games, struck out 372 batters, and had a 4.65 ERA. Born on December 18, 1906 in Veto, AL, Coffman stood 6' 2" and weighed 195 lb. He attended Athens (Athens, AL) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on April 28, 1927 and he played his final game on June 28, 1945. Common misspellings of his name include Samuel Dick Richard Coffman.
