Desmond Howard is a retired professional football player. He played as a wide receiver, kickoff returner and a punt returner while in the National Football League. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Howard went to St. Joseph High School and excelled in playing football and basketball as well as track. As a high school football player, Howard was an All-American and received All-State honors.
Howard decided to enroll in the University of Michigan and was a frontrunner in the Big Ten Conference with 138 points. Howard was able to earn the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Award by the end of his college football career. Howard graduated from Michigan with a degree in Communications.
After leaving Michigan, Howard was selected during the first round of the 1992 NFL draft by the Washington Redskins. Howard stayed with the Redskins until the 1995 season when he was left unprotected and was claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars during that season’s NFL Expansion Draft.
But it was with the Green Bay Packers that Howard would really cement his reputation as a football player. He helped the team get to the Super Bowl XXXI and was the most valuable player of the game. In 2001, he was named into his first and last Pro Bowl.

Desmond Howard (fullname: Desmond Kevin Howard; no nicknames) played from 1992 until 2002 for the Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions. He played 156 games, starting 29 of those. Born in Cleveland, OH on May 15, 1970, Howard stands 5'10 and weighs 185 lbs. He attended college at Michigan. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 1st round (4th overall) of the 1992 NFL Draft.
