About Derek Harper:
Derek Harper (full name: Derek Ricardo Harper; no nicknames) played Guard from 1984 until 1999 for the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knickerbockers, Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers. Over 16 seasons, he played 1199 games, scored 16006 points (13.3 ppg) and grabbed 2884 rebounds (2.4 rpg). Harper also dished out 6577 assists (5.5 apg), made 1957 steals (1.6 spg), and blocked 304 shots (0.3 bpg) during his career. Born in Elberton, Georgia on October 13, 1961, Harper stands 6-4 and weighs 185 lbs. He attended high school at North Shore in West Palm Beach, Florida and college at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1st round (11th pick, 11th overall) of the 1983 NBA draft.
