Dennis Paulson is a professional golfer who was born in San Gabriel, California. Paulson is known as “The Chief” when he is competing in tournaments. Paulson went to San Diego State University and turned professional in 1988. Paulson played in the PGA Tour as well as the Nationwide Tour.
Paulson’s first win came in 1990 during the California State Open. The California State Open is the state’s golf tournament and welcomes amateurs and professionals alike. Paulson won in the 1990 event and then again in the 1996 tournament. Kirk Triplett and Jason Gore went on to win the tournament after Paulson’s two wins. That year, Paulson also won the 1990 Philippine Open. The Philippine Open is the longest running national golf open in Asia.
Paulson’s next win came in 1993 when he won the Utah Open. Grant Waite won the competition a year before Paulson did. He also played in the Straight Down Fall Classic in1997 together with Ed Cuff, jr.
Some of Paulson’s best wins was in 1998 during the NIKE Huntsville Open in the Nationwide Tour. However, his most prestigious win would be during the Buick Classic in 2000. Paulson won after Duffy Waldorf and was succeeded by Sergio Garcia.
