José Dennis Martínez Ortiz, better known as Dennis Martínez, was the first Nicaraguan baseball player to play in MLB. During his career, he was known by the nickname El Presidente (The President). He is one of the top Latin American pitchers of all-time and became the first Latin American born pitcher to throw a perfect game on 1991.
He was linked to Puckett and Pappas. On 1995, Martínez was the last man to pitch to the late Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett in a regular-season game.
