About Dave Clark Memorabilia & Collectibles
Dave Clark was born David Earl Clark on September 3, 1962 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He first started with the
Cleveland Indians in 1983 but debuted in the major leagues with them much later, in September of 1986. By 1990 Clark was playing with the Chicago Cubs, and a year later for the Kansas City Royals. Not long after, he started playing for the Pittsburg Pirates in 1994 and hit a career high in home runs and runs batted.
Clark stayed with the Pirates until 1996, and then moved on to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers. A year later he returned to the
Chicago Cubs and in 1998, he played for the Houston Astros, the last team he would ever play for.
But this did not mean the end of Clark’s career in baseball. In 2000, Clark was hired to be a hitting coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ rookie club but ended up coaching their Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds. By the next season, he was the Pirate’s major league hitting coach.
Two years later, Clark was offered to coach the Lynchburg Hillcats, an advanced A affiliate of the
Pittsburgh Pirates. He was able to lead the Hillcats to the Carolina League playoffs, and the Hickory Crawdads to a South Atlantic League championship the following season.
By 2005, Clark accepted an offer to manage at the double-A level for the
Houston Astros organization. With his guidance, the Corpus Christi Hooks were able to reach their first ever Texas League championship in 2006.
Clark became the interim manager of the Houston Astros in 2009 and is currently working as their Third Base coach. He is also coaching the Los Tigres del Licey of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic as the team’s Dominican Winter League head coach.
