HE attended the University of Texas in Austin and was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft in 1972 by the California Angels. He debuted with the Angels in the major leagues on the 4th of September 1973. Dave Chalk was sent to the Texas Rangers in exchange for Bert Campaneris in 1979. The following month, he was sent off to the Oakland Athletics with some cash together with Mike Heath in exchange for John Henry Johnson. Before the year ended, he was a free agent and signed up with the Kansas City Royals and played for the team in less than a year. After he was granted free agency by the Royals, he returned to the Royals after a month and signed once again for the team. He was released and granted free agency after playing with the team for a year.

About Dave Chalk: Dave Chalk (full name: David Lee Chalk; no nicknames) played third baseman, shortstop and second baseman from 1973 until 1981 for the California Angels, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals. He played for the Angels from 1973 - 1978, Rangers in 1979, Athletics in 1979 and Royals from 1980 - 1981. Over 9 seasons, he played 903 games, hit 15 home runs, drove in 292 runs, and stole 36 bases. Born on August 30, 1950 in Del Rio, TX, Chalk stands 5' 10" and weighs 175 lb. He attended high school and was drafted by the California Angels in the 1st round (10th pick) of the 1972 amateur draft. His debut was on September 4, 1973 and he played his final game on September 27, 1981. Over his career, Chalk made $126,667.
