Darrius Heyward-Bey is a professional football player in the National Football Player. Heyward-Bey is currently playing for the Oakland Raiders and is occupying the wide receiver position. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, Heyward-Bey attended McDonogh School and, on top of being a wide receiver, he was also a linebacker. He received All-State honors during his first year in high school and was PrepStar All-American.
Although he was being recruited by such schools as Virginia, Michigan State, Virginia, Boston College and Alabama, Heyward-Bey decided to stay within the state and play for Maryland. After redshirting the 2005 season, Heyward-Bey was named into the first team of the All-American selection made by Sporting News and Rivals.com. Heyward-Bey was in the watch list for the 2007 Biletnikoff Award and even made an appearance in the 2007 Emerald Bowl where he was named as the team’s MVP. After making a total of 42 catches, and five touchdowns, Heyward-Bey was named as an All-ACC honorable mention.
Heyward-Bey decided to skip his last year at Maryland to enter the 2009 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders during the first round of the draft. As of now, Heyward-Bey has made nine receptions, recorded 124 receiving yards and as a receiving average of 13.8.
