Dale Long (full name: Richard Dale Long; no nicknames) played first baseman from 1951 until 1963 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Browns, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Washington Senators. He played for the Pirates from 1951 - 1957, Browns in 1951, Cubs from 1957 - 1959, Yankees from 1960 - 1963, Giants in 1960 and Senators from 1961 - 1962. Over 10 seasons, he played 1013 games, hit 132 home runs, drove in 384 runs, and stole 10 bases. Born on February 6, 1926 in Springfield, MO, Long stood 6' 4" and weighed 205 lb. He attended Adams (Adams, MA) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on April 21, 1951 and he played his final game on July 18, 1963. Common misspellings of his name include Richard Dale Long.
