About Curtis Granderson Memorabilia & Collectibles
Also the ambassador for the Major League Baseball International, Curtis Granderson is a professional baseball player. Currently in the New York Yankees active roster, Granderson played from 2004 to 2009 for the Detroit Tigers. He was raised in Lynwood, Illinois and went to Thornton Fractional South High School and was named into the SICA Central All-Conference.
He decided to go to the University of Illinois-Chicago and was a Second-Team All-American by both Baseball America and USA Today’s Baseball Weekly. After graduating with a degree in Business, Granderson became eligible to join the 2002 MLB Draft. He was picked by the Detroit Tigers.
Granderson became the starting center fielder for the Tigers in 2006—his debut season. The second season shaped up very well for the Granderson. He was named as an American League Player of the Week, and was able to come up with 30 doubles, 15 triples, 15 home runs and 10 stolen bases by the end of that season. It was in 2009 when Granderson was finally able to take part in his first 2009 All-Star Game. He was also named as that year’s Marvin Miller Man of the Year by the MLB Players Association.
In 2010, Granderson was sent to the New York Yankees. His first homerun while playing for the Yankees was against the Boston Red Sox.
