Cristobal Huet is a National Hockey League player who was born on September 3, 1975 in France. Before joining the national league, he first played in the Les Bruleurs de Loups where he harnessed his goaltending skills. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings as a seventh-round pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 214th pick overall in the said draft and was the second French player to join the league.
He was traded to the Montreal Canadiens where he played a starting job and won the Molson Cup, which is given to the best Candiens player every month, in February 2006. He also bagged the Best Defensive Player award in March and was again named to the award in April of that year.
Huet also played fort he Washington Capitals and the Chicago Blackhawks. He suffered a few injuries while with the Blackhawks but recovered and played well in his next few season with the team. He joined the Capitals on February 26, 2008 and played as a starter for the team. He won the Stanley Cup in 2009 and was the first among French NHL players to win the cup.
As of 2009-2010 seasons, he appeared in 272 games in the NHL. He is still currently playing for the Blackhawks.
