Corey Pavin is a professional golfer and was born in Oxnard, California. Currently, Pavin is playing in the PGA Tour and was able to get into the top ten during the 1986 to 1997 Official World Golf Rankings. Pavin went to UCLA before turning professional in 1982. Pavin was easily able to cement his reputation as a golfer after he was able to win international tournaments during the 1983 season – the Lufthansa German Open, the South African PGA Championship, the Calberson Classic and the Toyota World Match Play Championship.
Pavin was able to join the PGA Tour in 1984 and captured the Houston Coca-Cola Open where he won against Buddy Gardner with just one stroke. He followed that victory up with a Colonial National Invitation Win in 1985. Pavin won against Bob Murphy with four strokes.
In 1986, Pavin won two PGA events – the Hawaiian Open and the Greater Milwaukee Open against Paul Azinger and the Dave Barr respectively. Pavin would win the Hawaiian Open again in 1987. For that year, Pavin won the Bob Hope Chrysler Open against Bernhard Langer and again in 1991 against Mark O’Meara.
In 1991, Pavin was named as the PGA Player of the Year and was the leading money winner in the tour. Pavin won the 1995 U.S. Open against Greg Norman.
