About Clint Hartung Memorabilia & Collectibles

Known for the nicknames of “Floppy” and “The Hondo Hurricane”, Clint Hartung is a retired Major League Baseball player. He occupied the positions of pitcher and right fielder while playing in the MLB. Hartung is from Hondo, Texas and spent a total of six seasons in the MLB. His career as a professional baseball player started after he was drafted by the New York Giants as an amateur free agent before the start of the 1942 season.

Floppy was first assigned to the minor leagues before his MLB debut in 1947. He was able to play in the American Association for the Minneapolis Millers. After doing well in those seasons, he was called up in the 1947 season and was able to pitch in a total of 23 games. Hartung was able to post a .563 winning percentage for that season with a 4.57 ERA. During his rookie season, Hartung was able to register a .309 BA.

In 1954, Hartung’s rights were purchased by the Havana (International) and the pitcher played for the Havana Sugar Kings in the International League. Before the 1955 season could start, the Cincinnati Redlegs acquired Hartung. Hartung was assigned to play in the minor league for the Redlegs.
