About Cliff Aberson Memorabilia & Collectibles

A sports enthusiast by nature, Cliff Aberson was both a baseball and football player. Born as Clifford Alexander Aberson, he attended Senn High School where his status as a sports person was starting to be established. Though he loved baseball as his sport, football became his first profession as a sport’s man. While serving the Army Air Force, he met with the Green Bay Packers (NFL) coach Curley Lambeau. He then proceeded to signing a contract with the Packers in 1946. He became the tailback for the Packers.

Being a professional baseball player, he was the left-fielder for the Chicago Cubs from 1947 until 1949.Charlie Grimm, who had been in the Major League Baseball business for almost 40 years, was the Cubs’ manager in that year. On July 18 of that year, Aberson had his first MLB game together with Bill Nicholson, who was the outfielder of the Philadelphia Athletics before joining the Cubs. His first season with the Cubs was not a mediocre one. He gave the Cubs 20 homes and as for his batting average, he ended with a .305. He enjoyed 63 games with the Cubs, working hand-in-hand with remarkable players like Lonny Frey, who was a two-time winner of the World Series, and Bill Lee, who earned the National League Pennant twice.
