 Claude B. Humphrey is a retired professional football player who appeared in the National Football League as a defensive lineman. Before he was drafted to the National Football League, he played college football at Tennessee State University where he became an All-American in 1967. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons during the first round of the 1968 NFL Draft. He was a third overall pick by the team and began his very impressive career with the team in that season. He was named to the All-Pro team not jst once but five times and was a six-time All-NFC selection. He was included in the Pro Bowl for six times in 1970 to 1974 and in the 1977 seasons.

 

Aside from the Atlanta Falcons, he also played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1979 to 1981. He was a pass rusher and recorded 14 ½ sacks and was a significant player of the team for the Super Bowl XV.

 

He was inducted to the Georgia Hall of Fame and in his college, Tennessee Hall of Fame. Humphrey was also a Hall of Fame candidate in 2003, 2005 and 2006. He was named as the senior candidates for hall of fame for the 2009 Hall of Fame Election.

 

Afte his football career, he appeared in a few TV shows like “The Dukes of Hazzard” the “Repo Men” episode where he portrayed “Big John”.

Claude Humphrey (fullname: Claude B. Humphrey; no nicknames) played from 1968 until 1981 for the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. He played 171 games, starting 48 of those. Born in Memphis, TN on June 29, 1944, Humphrey stands 6'4 and weighs 252 lbs. He attended college at Tennessee State. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1st round (3rd overall) of the 1968 NFL Draft.
