 Clarke Hinkle was a professional football player in the National Football League. The entire time that Hinkle was in the NFL, he appeared only for the Green Bay Packers. Hinkle was from Toronto, Ohio and occupied the fullback, linebacker and kicker positions in the NFL. Hinkle attended Bucknell University for and was responsible for the team winning all games during the 1931 season. This led his coach, Carl Snavely, to comment that Hinkle is best defensive back that he has ever encountered and coached.

 

Fresh from college, Hinkle decided to sign a contract with the Green Bay Packers and was their offensive fullback. In total, Hinkle was able to play in the NFL for ten seasons. During his retirement after the 1941 season, Hinkle held the title for most career yards as a rusher in the whole of NFL’s history. This record was broken in 1950 by Cliff Battles.

 

Hinkle was able to lead the Packers to clinch the 1936 and the 1939 NFL Championship title. He was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame and then the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1964, 1971 and 1972 respectively. He was also named into the NFL 1930’s All-Decade Team.
