 Chuck Hayes is a professional basketball player in the NBA. Born in San Leandro, California, Hayes went to Modesto Christian High School in California where he was selected as an All-League and an All-State. During his senior year in Modesto, Hayes was honored as California’s Mr. Basketball after he helped his team get to the state championships. Hayes also played football while in college and was an All-State during his second year.

 

Hayes decided to attend the University of Kentucky in 2001. The University of Kansas had also expressed their desire to recruit Hayes. During his first year in college, Hayes was named into the 2002 All-SEC Freshman Team. Together with his teammates Gerald Fitch, Erik Daniels, Kelenna Azubuike and Keith Bogans, Hayes was able to increase the standing of Kentucky and the team was subsequently ranked as first, second and seventh during Hayes second, third and fourth year in college by the Associated Press. Hayes was selected as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2004.

 

Hayes was signed by the Houston Rockets before the start of the 2005 season and spent some time playing for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds in the NBA Developmental League. He was called to the Houston roster following injuries and was able to post a double-double during his second game. He became co-captain of the team during the 2009 season.

He attended high school at Modesto Christian in Modesto, California and college at University of Kentucky.
