Chris Wells is a former professional ice hockey player in the National Hockey League. He was born on November 12, 1975 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Florida Panthers.
He started his NHL career when he was drafted 24th overall in the 1st round of the 1994 NHL draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. During that time, he was already playing for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League. He finished the 1994- 1995 season with the Thunderbirds before debuting with the Penguins the following year. He began the 1996- 1997 season with the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the IHL before he was traded off to the Florida Panthers. He played for the New York Rangers then signed with the Dallas Stars. He was not able to play for the latter because he was sent to the Utah Grizzlies. He spent the next 3 seasons in the minor leagues before making a debut in the Russian Superleague. He retired in 2005 after playing for Italy, Russia, and Denmark. Upon retirement, he worked in real estate. He has a career record of 195 games played, 9 goals, 20 assists, 29 points, and 193 penalties in his 5- year career.
