Christopher Higgins, known as Chris Higgins, was born on June 2, 1983 in Smithtown, New York. He is a National Hockey League player who joined the league in 2002 after being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. He is a first round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Before playing professionally, he was a college hockey athlete in Yale University.
With the Montreal Canadiens, Higgins scored his first career goal in 2005 in a game against the New York Rangers. He was a finalist for the best offensive player for the first week of March. He sustained an injury in the 2006-2007 season but was named as an alternate captain in the next. Mike Komisarek later on replaced Higgins who was traded to the New York Rangers. With the Rangers, he had his first goal on November 3, 2009. According to reviews, Higgins struggled in the latter part of the season despite making a lot of scoring chances for the team. He also played for the Calgary Flames after being traded to the team in exchange for Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust. He is currently part of the team and plays at the left wing.
As of the 2009-2010 seasons, he played 349 games in the National Hockey League. He scored 92 goals and made 76 assists.
